I’m Christina, the brains and face behind Being Christina Jane (Yes, the name of this blog was inspired by the show Being Mary Jane, and yes, my middle name really is Jane!)
I’m a 20-something-year-old, Haitian-American travel blogger and content curator from Fort Myers, Florida.
Being Christina Jane is my way of inviting you to join me on my travel ventures by sharing the knowledge gained from my adventures and experiences— both good and bad— through my lens.
This travel blog is filled with not only helpful travel tips and information but is a recollection of the lessons I’ve learned and experiences I’ve had traveling.
Exploring various corners of the world has highlighted many real-life issues I deal with as a young Black woman, like actively confronting a range of mental health issues, navigating dating abroad, and just being.
Being Christina Jane is where real life meets travel. My goal is to curate a space that interconnects my love for travel and transparency regardless of the experience I am sharing.
In 2019 during my freshman year of college, I studied abroad in Accra, Ghana, and unbeknowingly to me, that experience would shift my mindset and life forever. Forced to navigate the city as a solo traveler, my two months studying abroad in Ghana gave me the human connection I didn’t know I needed, introduced me to my desired career field, expanded my comfort zone, and made me look at the world differently.
After that experience, I began solo traveling in 2020 (back when the pandemic was thought to only be an issue in Asia, little did we know!).
From gallivanting through the lush rice terraces in Bali to pretending like I knew how to swim in cenotes in Tulum, with every new passport stamp, I took a life-changing lesson home with me.
Traveling is more than just pretty pictures and recaps. It makes me a better global citizen, allows me to enter the world of others, and feeds my ignorance on topics I otherwise would never have exposure to.
Returning to Ghana in August 2021 to pursue my Master’s degree in International Relations for two years, I am now an expat learning about various cultures and connecting them to a bigger picture: the world as I prepare for a career in diplomacy.
From pinching pennies to save up for my dream trip (and first solo trip) to Bali, Indonesia, at 19 years old to traveling with generalized anxiety and eating disorders, I aim to tie lifestyle topics like finance, dating, relationships, and mental health into traveling while sharing dope experiences that will help you on your own travel journey!

It means if an individual or a community or a society wants to have a successful future, they have to draw on the past. To acquire and master existing ways of doing, access the knowledge of their ancestors.”
